Can You Create “Sexual Chemistry” if it is not there?

When Whitney, approached me for an interview for her recent article on creating “sexual chemistry”, I was thinking  wouldn’t that be nice if someone could actually have a simple answer to this popular question?!

Here is her interesting piece trying to respond to this million dollar question… You’re on a date with a really great guy. He’s smart, sweet, funny, and just your type. You almost can’t believe how perfect he is…until you hook up. No butterflies, no goose bumps, nothing. You completely fall flat. This guy who’s so good on paper just can’t seem to fire you up in the bedroom……read the full article by Whitney C. Harris here.

Sharing thoughts from previous colleagues who attended the program:

“Over the past two years I have trained with Sara in several different modalities–group workshops, online case supervision, and individual work supervision. Her knowledge about sexuality, cultural diversity and medical and cognitive behavioral treatment of sexual dysfunction is extraordinary.  She is a wonderful teacher–supportive, encouraging, warm, funny, generous, responsive and challenging. Her clinical insights are extraordinary, and she communicates them in a way that always helps me apply them constructively in therapy sessions with my patients. Her interventions are effective, creative and grounded in CBT techniques as well as psychodynamic interventions. I can’t recommend working with Sara highly enough.” Johanna Herwitz, Ph.D Licensed Clinical Psychologist
“Being supervised by Sara is a unique experience all around. My supervision and training with her through her HAT program provided me an opportunity to grow and learn new skills as a beginner therapist. Sara has the ability to inspire and challenge you while making you feel comfortable and connected in both one-on-one and group settings. She awakens a passion in you. Sara’s knowledge and wisdom come from her world travels and involvement, not just what goes on in the therapy room. Learning about diversity, especially when the topic is sexuality, is invaluable to the practice of therapy. I have learned so much about being a professional from Sara as well. She is caring and supportive throughout the process and this models how to be with clients. I am so glad that I invested in myself and my clients by taking the training with Sara.” Lynn Kufner M.Ed., Ed.S.

Program Description:

This post-graduate training program is based on holistic assessment and care for sexual dysfunctions and designed for a wide range of therapists, counselors and licensed mental health and medical professionals who would like to gain systematic knowledge and skills in working with sexual issues of individuals and couples.

I chose the name as a symbol of various ‘hats’ we wear as therapists to be able to address, assess and manage any sexuality and relationship issues our clients bring to the room.

HAT includes principles from various disciplines such as: sexual-medicine, psychosexual therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, neuro-linguistic programming, neuroscience and systems theory. The training has three levels (Foundation, Intermediate and advanced). Participants of all levels are welcome.

Each cohort is approved for CE credits by AASECT. The course is online so colleagues could join from anywhere in the world.

Payments can be made via Paypal, credit card and personal checks (for US residents only).
