Sara Nasserzadeh PhD, DipPST, is a New York based Social Psychologist, specializing in sexuality and relationships. She is an award winning author, public speaker and producer of a BBC World Service show “Whispers”. Dr. Nasserzadeh has worked globally (across 15 countries) helping various organizations, programs, and causes in the capacity of a spokesperson, media commentator, and consultant in effective health communication, relationships, social policy, cultural exchanges, sexual health and well-being and career & life prospect. Her most recent projects were with the BBC, United Nations Population Fund, United Nations Children’s Fund and the World Population Foundation.
In addition to her clinical and consulting works, Dr. Nasserzadeh, contributes to the professional organizations in administrative capacities; for the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS), Dr. Nasserzadeh serves as an Associate Secretary for North America as part of the Executive Committee and Advisory Committee and chairs the Middle East Sexual Health Committee. She was also elected to serve on the standardizing working groups for sexuality education as well as psychotherapy, which devise the standard of practice for these professions.
For the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), Dr. Nasserzadeh Chairs the International Out-reach Committee and serves on the International Membership Committee, representing Europe, Australia, Middle East and New Zealand.
In December 2012 Dr. Nasserzadeh was elected to serve on the nominating committee of the International Society for the Scientific Study of Women’s Sexual Health. ISSWSH is the largest multidisciplinary association internationally, dedicated to the study and improvement of female sexual health including female sexual dysfunctions.
Dr. Nasserzadeh has been the recipient of numerous awards including the World Association for Sexual Health runner up award for Excellence and Innovation, for her international work in the area of sexuality education and cultural sensitivity (Sydney, 2007). She received the BBC World Service Award for “Innovation of the Year” for her radio/online program on sex and relationship issues (London, 2007). The book she co-authored with three esteemed colleagues was granted the AASECT Book Award Honorable Mention in 2011.
