About Dr. Sara
Dr. Sara Nasserzadeh is a Social Psychologist, an accredited Psychosexual Therapist by the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists in the UK (COSRT) and a Certified Sexuality Counselor by the American Association for Sexuality Counselors, Educators and Therapists (AASECT).
She is an award-winning creator and host of a BBC World Service program on sex and relationship issues called The Whispers. Her international works in the area of sexuality education has been granted an honorary mention by the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) for Excellence and Innovation. The book she co-authored with three esteemed colleagues was granted the AASECT Book Award Honorable Mention in 2011.
Dr. Nasserzadeh obtained her PhD in Social Psychology and MSc in Social Science Research Methods from Middlesex University in London. Her training in Couple Counseling and Psychosexual Therapy were completed at the Relate Institute in conjunction with University of East London. And her undergraduate degree was in Linguistics and Translation Studies.
Dr. Nasserzadeh started her career as a sexuality researcher and educator in Tehran, Iran, where she collaborated closely with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Academy of Medical Sciences (AMS) before moving to England. She then worked across more than 14 countries as a consultant to various organizations including the UNFPA, World Association for Sexual Health (WAS), Population Council, pharmaceutical companies, World Population Foundation (WPF) and various media networks such as the BBC World Service.
In addition to being a subject matter expert in the field of sexual health and relationship, her other areas of expertise as a consultant include access to hard-to-reach groups, cultural diversity, context analysis and behavioral and motivational analysis.
At the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS), Dr. Nasserzadeh serves as an Associate Secretary for North America as part of the Executive Committee and chairs the Middle East Sexual Health Committee. She also sits on the standardizing working groups for sexuality education and psychotherapy.
At the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), Dr. Nasserzadeh has been elected to serve as the chair of the International Out-Reach Committee.
Dr. Nasserzadeh is the president and principle consultant at the Connections ABC, LLC. She currently lives in New York City and practices in Midtown Manhattan while traveling globally to lecture and consult various organizations and media networks.
