Welcome to the Little Black Fish Blog

This blog is for social observers, people who are genuinely interested in everything and everyone and all kinds of social interactions happening around them. I would love to hear about your daily observations and will share with you mine, whether it’s a behavior from a total stranger that caught my attention or something that moved me in any meaningful way. Let’s begin and see where this will take us. Shall we?

  • Behind the Name
  • The Story
The Little Black Fish was my nickname since I can remember! My parents say they chose it because I was very inquisitive, observant and passionate about fairness. I used to question everything and apparently had a never-ending thirst to discover (not always safe of course!). I don’t think I have changed that much, so I thought this would be the best title to represent my blog.
"The Little Black Fish" is the name of a character in a children’s book written in late 1960s by an Iranian educator, social critic and author Samad Behrangi. It tells the journey of a little black goldfish that believes there is a bigger world beyond her local stream and finally ventures into the river and then through a waterfall to the sea. She travels far indeed, meets several interesting characters on her way. The tale ends at an ambiguous point open to interpretation suggesting the little black fish could be an example for anyone who wants to use her intuitive wisdom and courage to lead the way to see beyond the immediate context around her.
